A former Industrial Technology Advisor (ITA) in NRC's Industrial Research Assistance Program, Al utilized his depth of industrial and manufacturing engineering knowledge to assist many Saskatchewan industries with problems ranging from small nagging human resource problems to large expansions with company mergers.
Al has assisted a wide variety of industries from biotechnology through metal fabrication to apparel manufacturing. A founding member of the Apparel & Textile Association of Saskatchewan, Al has extensive experience in apparel having been employed by GWG, Lee Jeans, Levi Strauss to name a few and has assisted many Saskatchewan apparel & textile manufacturers such as Fashions by Mee, Saskatchewan Abilities Council and Harvest Industries.
Much of Al's experience as an ITA was assisting metal fabrication operations such as Dutch Industries, Batco Manufacturing, Lift-Off Stock Trailers and Honey Bee. With experience in developing small businesses, business plans, equipment justification, plant layouts, process flow, computer systems analysis, workstation efficiency, budgeting, inventory control, purchasing, product costing and quality systems, Al also has human resource skills to help all manner of manufacturing business.
Having worked in the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP), Al can also assess and develop a project plan and complete the application forms for a successful application for government funding.
The majority of business is presenting seminars and workshops on Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques. Drawing from 29 years of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering background, Al provides in-house, hands-on workshops for his clients. Seminar presentations to groups is also available.
Al also made regular contributions as a member of the Consulting Practices Committee and a member of council for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan. He is also a mentor with the Regina Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Youth Business Foundation.
